Activities
The best way of exploring the Great Smoky Mountains is taking a hike on one of it's 800 miles of trails ranging from 0.5 miles to 70 miles in length. During the warmer months of the year tourists rent and ride bikes from Cades Cove, and during the colder months skiing, and snowshoeing are popular activities for the mountain tops. Total, throughout the park there are 2,115 miles of streams, and fishing in these streams is a very popular activity. Fishing is permitted year round from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. Since the park is uniquely located between North Carolina, and Tennessee there are two different requirements when it comes to fishing licenses. If you're a resident in North Carolina you have to be 16 to acquire a license, and if you're a resident of Tennessee the limit is age 13. There is also an opportunity for zip lining in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with prices ranging from $34.95 to $124.95.
